We went to lots of places in India on our bicycles. Then we decided to go to Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is an island with really nice beaches and super friendly people. There were three of us on this trip. We just wanted to see what Sri Lanka was like and meet the people who live there. We wanted to travel and see how people live in Sri Lanka. We also wanted to tell people about how we think things can be better.
We started our trip by flying from Chennai International Airport in India to Colombo International Airport in Sri Lanka. It was really cool to see our bicycles being put on the plane. We were so excited to start our adventure in Sri Lanka. When we got to Colombo we put our bicycles together and it was really hot. Sri Lanka is a hot country and the sun shines brightly even in the morning.. The people in Sri Lanka are so nice that we did not even notice the heat. We were happy to be in Sri Lanka. We were looking forward to seeing what the country was, like.
First Impressions of Colombo
Colombo was really nice to us. It had roads that were very clean and it felt like a modern city but it also had a lot of old charm. The traffic was not too bad which was nice because a lot of cities in South Asia have really bad traffic. Colombo looked very clean. That was great for us because we came from big cities that are always busy. We rode our bikes around the city. Saw old buildings from a long time ago new malls and lots of colorful tuk-tuks driving by.
Our first stop was Galle Face Green. It is a pretty place by the ocean where people go to watch the sun go down. We stood there with our bikes. Felt the wind from the ocean. We heard the sound of the waves hitting the rocks. It was really nice. Colombo was a place to start our trip, to Sri Lanka.

Exploring Beyond Colombo
We spent a day looking around Colombo. Then we decided to ride our bicycles to other cities. What I love about traveling by bicycle is that I can stop wherever I want. To take pictures talk to the people who live there or just rest under a tree when I am tired. We went to some towns by the sea, small villages and places where people go fishing.
The roads were pretty good. I felt safe riding my bicycle. The people driving cars in Sri Lanka seem to care about bicycle riders, which made our trip a lot more fun. Every now. Then we would meet people who were curious about us waving at us or asking where we came from. They were really nice to us. They would often give us coconuts to drink or ask us to have tea with them.
One of the things about riding a bicycle in Sri Lanka is the beautiful scenery by the sea. The beaches go on and on with sand that’s golden and water that is blue. We went to a lot of beaches. Some were crowded with tourists and others were quiet and hard to find. Watching the fishermen pull in their nets early in the morning and the sun going down into the ocean at night were things that Sri Lanka bicycle tripsre all, about and we will never forget them Sri Lanka bicycle trips were really something special.

Tasting Local Food
Food is a thing when you travel. When we were in Sri Lanka we found out that the food there is not complicated but it tastes really good. Most of the time people in Sri Lanka eat rice and curry. They often have spicy sambols and sauces made from coconut. Sri Lanka does not have many different kinds of food as Thailand or India but the food they have is good for you. It fills you up.
We really liked eating string hoppers, which’s a dish made from rice noodles and curry and kottu roti, which is a mix of chopped flatbread and vegetables and eggs. We also liked eating seafood when we were near the beach. The fruits that grow in Sri Lanka, like bananas and pineapples and papayas were great to eat when we were cycling for a time and needed energy. Even though it was really hot and we were sweating a lot Food and water helped us to keep going strong. Food was always something we looked forward to because Sri Lankan Food is really good.
Friendliness and Safety
Throughout our journey, we found Sri Lankan people to be very friendly, polite, and helpful. From the big city to small rural areas, people welcomed us with smiles and curiosity. They respected our cycling mission and were often surprised to see foreigners traveling by bicycle across their country.

A small boat in the sea of Colombo, Sri Lanka
We always felt safe—whether riding during the day or resting at small local guesthouses at night. The country has a calm atmosphere and a strong sense of hospitality. Even when we lost our way once in a countryside area, a local family came out of their house to guide us and even shared some fruits before we continued our ride. Those small gestures made a big difference in our journey.
Affordable and Enjoyable Destination
Traveling in Sri Lanka is really affordable. This makes Sri Lanka a great place for cyclists and people who do not want to spend a lot of money when they travel. The food in Sri Lanka is cheap the places to stay are cheap. The ways to get around are cheap too. Compared to other countries in Asia Sri Lanka is a very affordable place to visit. Even though things are cheap in Sri Lanka the facilities are usually very good. The roads are also well taken care of in the areas where a lot of tourists go.
We saw that some cities, in Sri Lanka are very organized and care about the environment. There were trash cans in the areas and people seemed to want to keep their city clean. It was great to see how Sri Lanka can have cities and still take care of the surroundings. Sri Lanka does a job of balancing nature and cities.

Reflections on the Journey
We finished our bike ride around the island. Were getting ready to go home and we thought about how much we learned from this small place. Sri Lanka is not a country but it has a lot of nice beaches, history, culture and people are really kind.
This trip was not about seeing new things for us it was about meeting people and learning about their way of life as we rode our bikes. When you travel slowly you see things in a way. You learn to be patient to like things and to respect other people. Every time we saw someone smile or someone was kind to us or we saw a sunset we felt like we were seeing the good in people.
We left Sri Lanka with sunburn, legs but we were happy. Our bikes took us through the heat, up hills and, in the humidity. The fun we had was worth all the hard work.
If you are thinking about going to Sri Lanka we can say for sure: Sri Lanka is a place it does not cost a lot of money and people are friendly. If you like to have fun go to the beach and meet people you should pack your bags or even better take your bike and go see Sri Lanka for yourself.
